Bridging Barriers, Empowering Lives

Advocate Gaurav Bansal has been a prominent figure in securing the rights of persons with disabilities (PWD) in India. He has filed numerous Public Interest Litigations (PILs) to enforce the provisions of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, ensuring government and public facilities comply with accessibility standards. Bansal’s advocacy for policy changes has promoted inclusive education, employment, and social services, leading to increased awareness among policymakers. Through awareness campaigns, workshops, and seminars, he has highlighted the challenges faced by PWDs and the importance of inclusivity.
Involved in landmark cases, Bansal successfully argued for inclusive policies allowing PWDs to participate in the Haj pilgrimage in a notable PIL in the Delhi High Court. Additionally, he filed a PIL against the National Medical Commission’s regulation barring mentally ill persons from pursuing MBBS degrees, resulting in a significant policy change that promoted non-discriminatory practices in medical education. Another key case involved challenging the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in the Delhi High Court, where he sought to ensure better accessibility and facilities for PWDs within the institution, setting a precedent for medical institutions across the country.
His legal victories have addressed issues of discrimination, accessibility, and essential services, bringing systemic changes that benefit the broader PWD community. His collaborations with NGOs and disability rights groups have amplified the voices of PWDs, strengthening the disability rights movement in India. Bansal’s dedicated efforts aim to create a society where everyone enjoys equal opportunities and rights.
